Audric Govinden and Shatana Barbe were both called to the Bar before Chief Justice Rony Govinden on Tuesday 1 February 2022 in court room 1.
Audric Govinden completed his two year pupillage from 1 January 2020 – January 2022 at Seychambers with René Durup. Civil law is his preferred area of practice.
Shantana Barbe completed her pupillage with Georges & Co Attorneys from January 2020 – January 2022. Civil, contract, and commercial law are her preferred areas of practice.
Both lawyers graduated from the University of London Law Program taught at the University of Seychelles. Lawyer Bernard Georges spoke highly of both lawyers, stating that they represent the new, younger and stronger law professionals who can readily take over the work, which he stated gives him “great pride and joy.”
Chief Justice Rony Govinden also said a few words, commending their hard work, perseverance, and ability to apply the law and be assertive in court.
The ceremony was attended by fellow colleague lawyers, friends, and family.
