The Judiciary of Seychelles is announcing that the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) for 2022 will commence on 7 March, 2022.
The BVC is designed to give students the necessary foundation in the Seychelles legal system and laws to enable them to increase their chances of passing the Bar Exam. This is the examination all law graduates who desire to be admitted as Attorneys-at-Law to practice law in Seychelles are required to take. The Bar Exam will take place in November this year.
The Course will teach the 8 examinable modules, which include: 1.Seychelles Civil Code; 2. Property Law; 3. Evidence Law; 4. Seychelles Code of Civil Procedure; 5. Penal Code & Criminal Procedure; 6. Company/Commercial Law; 7. Constitutional & Administrative Law; and 8. Family Law.
The lectures are to run for 2 hours every day from 4.30pm – 6.30pm on Mondays to Fridays, and on Saturdays from 9am – 3pm. Each module will be taught for 2 hours per week. The lectures will run for 20 weeks, from March – August, 2022.
The venue for the lectures is at the Auditorium of the Palais De Justice, Ile du Port.
Those interested in becoming Attorneys at Law are encouraged to register for the BVC with the Registrar of the Supreme Court by 18 February, 2022. They can email registrar@judiciary.gov.sc or come in person to the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at the Palais De Justice, Ile du Port. Enquiries regarding registration and course fees may be directed to the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
