October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.
To commemorate this event and stand in solidarity with those who contracted the illness or who have relatives and friends who have, Judiciary staff wore pink colored clothing to work on Friday 22 October 2021. Some had pins, others had one pink clothing items, and others went all out in full pink.
Special thanks goes to the Cancer Concern Association for donating some of their pink pins to the Judiciary staff.
The momentum around breast cancer awareness began in the early 1990s, when brands and cancer awareness / research foundations solidified the pink ribbon as a universal symbol for the disease.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and throughout the year—people wear pink ribbons or pink clothing items to honor survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and to support the progress we are making together to defeat breast cancer.
