Ms. Afif taking her oath before the Registrar of the Supreme Court
Asiyath Aishath Afif, aged 26, was officially admitted as an Attorney at Law in a formal ceremony in court room 1 before Chief Justice Rony Govinden and Judge Mohan Burhan, with the assistance of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Juliana Esticot.
Ms. Afif passed her Bar Exam in November 2018, and was under the pupillage of lawyer Keiran Shah for the mandatory two year period before being successfully admitted as an Attorney at Law. This means that she may now practice independently if she chooses to.
The ceremony consisted of a short introduction, followed by her taking an oath before the Judges, and signing relevant paperwork confirming her admission. This was done in the presence of Mr. Shah, Ms. Afif’s family, and other lawyers.
