As part of ongoing engagements in Seychelles, members of the Southern and East Africa Judicial Administrators Association (SEAJAA) undertook a courtesy visit to the Palais de Justice, where they were introduced to key operational systems and practices within our Judiciary.
The visit provided delegates with a first-hand look at the Judiciary’s use of speech-to-text technology in court proceedings, an innovation that continues to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timely production of court records. A live demonstration was conducted by court staff and the Head of Information Technology, offering practical insight into how the system supports day-to-day judicial functions.
The delegation also had the opportunity to meet with Supreme Court Judge Melchior Vidot, who leads programmes dedicated to the continuous training and professional development of judicial officers. Discussions highlighted the importance of capacity-building initiatives in strengthening judicial performance and maintaining high standards within the justice system.

The visit was led by the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Juliana Esticot, alongside Deputy Registrar Marie-Angel Barbe, Director for Legal Affairs Lionel Garrick, Director for Operations and Logistics Paul Derjacques, and Public Relations and Communications Officer Sasha Marivel.
The purpose of the visit was to deepen understanding of how the Seychelles Judiciary operates, while identifying opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the sharing of best practices across jurisdictions. Discussions also explored potential avenues for partnership in areas such as judicial training, digital transformation, and court administration.
The SEAJAA delegation commended the Seychelles Judiciary for its forward-looking approach, particularly in embracing technology to improve service delivery. The visit reinforced the value of regional cooperation in advancing judicial administration and highlighted the role of shared learning in addressing common challenges faced by courts across the region.
