Savoy Hotel, Seychelles, 9 May 2025 – The Judiciary of Seychelles proudly hosted its 2024 Long Service Awards and Certificate Presentation Ceremony on Friday 9 May evening at the Savoy Hotel, honouring over 100 staff members for their outstanding dedication, professional development, and enduring service.

His Excellency the President of the Republic graced the event, alongside senior judges, staff, and distinguished guests. The ceremony celebrated three key milestones: successful completion of staff training programmes, the conferring of long service awards, and the broader spirit of Labour Day.

Delivering the keynote address, Chief Justice Rony Govinden acknowledged the collective impact of Judiciary personnel:

“Longevity in service is not merely about time spent but about impact made. Your contributions form the backbone of our institution… It is through your tireless efforts that courtrooms operate smoothly, cases are adjudicated fairly, and public trust in our legal system is maintained.”

Celebrating Long Service Milestones

The Judiciary recognised staff across all departments—including Courts, Administration, Judiciary Secretariat, and the Office of the Master and Registrar—for their years of committed service:

  • 5 Years: 18 recipients
  • 10 Years: 12 recipients
  • 15 Years: 8 recipients
  • 20 Years: 8 recipients
  • 25 Years: 6 recipients
  • 30 Years: 4 recipients
  • 35 Years: 2 recipients

Quincy Famakinwa, Senior Court Orderly, and Anne Marguerite Magloire, Senior Court Reporter, were both awarded for their 35 years of service in the Judiciary. They spoke to media about this achievement, explaining that having a mindset of perseverance and dedication is what has made the difference for them in their careers.

Other awardees came from departments such as the Supreme Court, Magistrates’ Court, Court of Appeal, Master’s Chambers, Judicial Library, Human Resources, and the IT Unit, among others.

Professional Growth through Training

In line with the Judiciary’s ongoing commitment to capacity building, up to 70 employees received certificates for successfully completing a wide range of professional training. These included courses in customer care, conflict management, Employment laws and regulation, executive leadership and coaching mentoring and counselling. The Chief Justice commended these efforts, stating that such trainings are “investments in justice itself.”

Special mention was made of the Bar Vocational Course graduates who received their Bar Finals Certificates—marking a critical milestone as they prepare to join the legal profession.

Special Tribute

The Judiciary also bid a heartfelt farewell to Mr. Denis Hermitte, Head of IT, who will be leaving the institution after many years of dedicated service. A special thank-you gift was presented to him in appreciation of his contributions to the modernization and digital transformation of the Judiciary’s operations.

Following the formal proceedings, guests enjoyed a celebratory dinner and entertainment, in keeping with the Labour Day spirit of unity and appreciation.
