The legal profession welcomed a new member on Friday 6 February, as Mrs. Kimberly D’Offay was formally called to the Bar during a ceremony held at the Palais de Justice, before the Chief Justice and Justice David Esparon of the Supreme Court.

Mrs. D’Offay joins the Attorney General’s Office, where she completed her two-year pupillage from 22 January 2024 to 2026, following the successful completion of the Bar Examination in December 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Attorney General highlighted Mrs. D’Offay’s extensive and well-rounded exposure during her pupillage, noting that she had gained substantial courtroom experience across a wide range of matters. These included criminal prosecutions, appeals, constitutional cases, and proceedings before the Magistrates’ Court. She also developed strong skills in the drafting of legislative instruments, contributing meaningfully to the work of the Office.

The Chief Justice, in his address, commended Mrs. D’Offay’s professionalism and conduct, describing her as “always well prepared, courteous, soft-spoken yet clear and forceful.” He encouraged her to continue her career at the Attorney General’s Office in order to gain further exposure and deepen her experience in public law practice.

In an emotional vote of thanks, Mrs. D’Offay expressed her gratitude to God, whom she credited for giving her strength she did not know she possessed throughout her journey. She thanked her husband for his unwavering support, her daughter, her family for their prayers, as well as her colleagues and mentors at the Attorney General’s Office for their guidance and encouragement. Several colleagues also spoke warmly of her dedication, work ethic, and character during the ceremony.

Mrs. D’Offay’s admission to the Bar marks an important milestone in her legal career and reflects the continued commitment of the Attorney General’s Office to nurturing capable and dedicated legal professionals in the service of justice.
