The event was officially opened by Uganda’s President, H.E. Yoweri Museveni, who highlighted the crucial role of judiciaries in maintaining the rule of law and ensuring justice for all citizens. Key discussions during the forum included topics such as “Guardians of Justice: Independence of the Judiciary in Authoritarian Regimes.” These discussions explored the importance of maintaining judicial independence and reforming judicial systems to provide better access to justice.

The Seychelles delegation, which includes Supreme Court Judge Brassel Adeline, Director of Legal Affairs Mr. Lionel Garrick, and Deputy Registrar for Criminal Division Ms. Marie-Angele Barbe, actively participated in the forum. Their attendance underscores Seychelles’ commitment to regional collaboration and reform efforts aimed at enhancing access to justice and ensuring judicial independence.
