The Judiciary of Seychelles has successfully completed a major upgrade to the electrical infrastructure at the Palais de Justice, following the installation and commissioning of a new Low Voltage Main Switch Board by Venora (Seychelles) Limited.

A handing over ceremony between representatives of Venora (Seychelles) Limited and the Chief Justice, including the Judiciary’s Registrar of the Supreme Court and Director of Operations and Logistics Mr. Paul Derjacques, took place at the Palais de Justice on Wednesday 8 July 2026.

The project was undertaken after a technical assessment identified the need to replace the existing electrical distribution system to improve its safety, reliability and long-term performance. The new installation will provide a more resilient power supply capable of supporting the current and future operational needs of the Court Complex.

Installation works were carried out over the National Day weekend to minimise disruption to court operations. The project included the removal of the previous switchboard, installation of a new 800A Main Low Voltage Panel, and comprehensive testing and commissioning in collaboration with the Public Utilities Corporation (PUC).

During the commissioning process, engineers also identified significant earth leakage within parts of the existing electrical network, requiring additional investigations and corrective measures to ensure the overall safety and integrity of the system.

The Judiciary extends its appreciation to Venora (Seychelles) Limited for its professionalism and technical expertise throughout the project, as well as to the Public Utilities Corporation for its support during the installation and commissioning process.

This important infrastructure investment forms part of the Judiciary’s ongoing commitment to modernising its facilities, improving operational resilience and providing a safe and reliable environment for judicial officers, staff, legal practitioners and members of the public.
