The Judiciary of Seychelles celebrated Festival Kreol with a week of cultural activities culminating in the Kreol Kwiz finals and a lively Creole buffet lunch on Friday, 30 October 2026, bringing staff together in a celebration of the country’s rich heritage, shared traditions and team spirit.
The Kreol Kwiz brought together teams from across the Judiciary for a friendly yet competitive test of their knowledge of Seychelles. From traditional Creole expressions and the country’s history to identifying local fish and flora, and recognising familiar personalities by their voices, the quiz offered a fun and enriching way for staff to reconnect with the culture that unites them.

After a dynamic competition and a closely contested race to the finals, Team Curieuse emerged as champions for the second consecutive year, successfully defending their title. Team La Digue secured second place after putting up a worthy fight, while Ms Keara Rosette and Chief Justice Rony Govinden were recognised as the competition’s top scorers. Teams Farquhar and Coëtivy also received tokens of participation in recognition of their involvement.

The celebrations continued with a Creole buffet lunch, accompanied by live music from a local band. Staff enjoyed an afternoon of traditional flavours, dancing, games and laughter, creating an opportunity to unwind and connect with colleagues outside the usual workplace setting.

More than a cultural celebration, the activities reflected the importance of fostering a positive workplace where colleagues can learn from one another, strengthen relationships and share experiences beyond their daily responsibilities.

Through initiatives such as the Kreol Kwiz and the staff lunch, the Judiciary continues to promote appreciation for Seychelles’ history, language and traditions while nurturing camaraderie and a sense of belonging among its employees.
As Festival Kreol reminds us each year, culture is not only something to preserve, but something to live and share. For the Judiciary, celebrating Creole heritage together was a joyful reminder that knowledge brings us together, culture connects us, and team spirit makes the celebration even more meaningful.
