The official Reopening of the Supreme Court series of events culminates at the Palais de Justice building, where the Chief Justice proceeds to the Observation of the Guard of Honour. The Chief Justice then greets everyone, and thereafter the Judicial Officers, Attorneys, and Court staff pose for souvenir photograph on the steps of the building.
The President of the Republic arrives, and then crowds move to Court Room 1 to hear the Chief Justice’s much anticipated annual speech that marks the start of the judicial year – with this year’s focus being on the theme, “Justice First”. Once formalities have been completed, the ceremony ends with a cake cutting by the President of the Court of Appeal and the Chief Justice before refreshments are served.
