During the ceremonial sitting, members of the Bench, legal fraternity and family gathered to pay tribute to a man whose career was marked by service to the nation.

Through dedication and expertise, he rose steadily through the ranks, serving as Director by 2001 and later as Director General in 2006. His leadership and deep understanding of labour matters led to his appointment as Registrar General, and in August 2014, he assumed the role of Special Advisor to the Minister of Labour and Human Resources.

Among his achievements was his instrumental role in the proposal and establishment of the Employment Tribunal in 2008. He later served on the Tribunal and became widely recognised as a specialist in employment law. His work contributed significantly to the modernization of labour legislation in Seychelles, helping to shape reforms that continue to influence the country’s employment law landscape today.

Beyond his contributions in labour law, Mr. Boniface also served as Principal Investigation Officer at the Ombudsman’s Office. He later headed his own legal practice, where he acted as counsel and advocate in numerous employment and public interest matters, earning respect from colleagues and clients alike for his professionalism and legal insight.

In his address, the Chief Justice acknowledged the profound loss felt by Mr. Boniface’s family, colleagues and the wider legal community. He paid tribute to a man whose life’s work was devoted to justice and public service.

Several Supreme Court Judges also addressed the ceremonial sitting, including Judge Dodin, Judge Adeline and Judge Esparon, each reflecting on Mr. Boniface’s professional achievements.

Representatives of the Bar Association also spoke on behalf of legal practitioners. The ceremonial sitting served as a solemn reminder of Mr. Boniface’s life and work, one defined by service, legal excellence and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law.
